How it works
Each ingredient has its own job in LIPOFEM:
- Liposomal iron is ferric pyrophosphate wrapped in a phospholipid layer, so it is absorbed well with fewer stomach side effects than ordinary iron salts.
- Vitamin C helps the gut absorb iron and acts as an antioxidant.
- Methylcobalamin is the active form of vitamin B12, needed for healthy nerves, red blood cells and folate metabolism.
- Folic acid is needed for DNA synthesis and red blood cell formation and lowers the risk of neural tube defects when taken before and during early pregnancy.
Dosage and how to take it
Usually taken once a day, preferably on an empty stomach or as the doctor advises.
The dose and length of treatment depend on the condition, the patient and the response, and are decided by the treating doctor. Do not change the dose or stop the medicine without medical advice.
Side effects of LIPOFEM
Not everyone gets side effects. Those reported most often with its ingredients include:
- Dark stools
- Occasional constipation

- Not for people with iron overload conditions
- High folate intake can mask vitamin B12 deficiency, so B12 status should be kept in mind

- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct light and out of reach of children
