How it works
Each ingredient has its own job in SINUCAL-XT:
- Calcium carbonate supplies elemental calcium for bones and teeth; needs rise in pregnancy, breastfeeding and after menopause.
- Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) helps the gut absorb calcium and supports bone, muscle and immune health.
- Methylcobalamin is the active form of vitamin B12, needed for healthy nerves, red blood cells and folate metabolism.
- L-methylfolate is the active form of folate, so it does not need conversion in the body and supports cell division and healthy neural tube development.
- Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) supports amino acid metabolism and nerve function and helps ease pregnancy nausea.
Dosage and how to take it
Take after food with a full glass of water.
The dose and length of treatment depend on the condition, the patient and the response, and are decided by the treating doctor. Do not change the dose or stop the medicine without medical advice.
Side effects of SINUCAL-XT
Not everyone gets side effects. Those reported most often with its ingredients include:
- Constipation
- Gas or bloating
Contact the doctor if a side effect is severe, does not settle, or if you notice a rash, swelling or breathing difficulty.
Precautions to keep in mind
- Not for people with high blood calcium or kidney stones without medical advice
- Take a couple of hours apart from iron tablets and thyroid medicine
- Very high doses over a long time can raise blood calcium
- Tell the doctor about any other medicines, supplements or medical conditions before starting
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct light and out of reach of children
